Thank you for your interest in our anxiety research study at NYU Langone Health.

The purpose of this research study is to understand to how Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) compared to a Stress Education (SE) class works through changes in the brain for patients with generalized anxiety disorder (GAD). Specifically we want to understand brain changes (“neural mechanisms”) that contribute to reduction in GAD symptoms with MBSR treatment compared to Stress Education (SE), and to examine the degree to which treatment response may be explained by sex differences in these neural mechanisms. GAD is a mental health disorder with specific core features, such as worry and anxiety about the future that lasts for at least 6 months.
