The NNLM National Center for Data Services is seeking for health sciences libraries partners to serve as internship sites* for our upcoming summer internship, providing hands-on provide practical experiences for graduate students of color interested in working as data librarians in health sciences contexts. If you have a data project that will be of benefit to your library and can be completed by several individuals undergoing data literacy training, support, and mentoring through NCDS, please submit your project information here. The projects must be well-defined and utilizing an already-existing dataset. Data can be messy as internship participants will be learning skills including data cleaning, structuring, analysis, or visualization. Since the internship is limited to 10 weeks over the summer, and there are a plethora of skills within the "data literacy" umbrella, it should be clear in the application which 1-3 elements of data literacy will be the focus for this project.

There is a time commitment where the contact person from your library will need to regularly meet with the internship participant(s) working on the site project and to attend final presentations. Questions? Email ncds@nnlm.gov

*Please note: The next internship will be fully virtual.
