Abstract submissions - Polysubstance Use Symposium

Abstract submissions closed on June 14th.

We will accept poster submissions only until August 1st. Posters from community organizations are especially encouraged.

The NYU Center for Opioid Epidemiology and Policy is pleased to host the second ever Polysubstance Use Symposium from October 24-25, 2024. This event will accelerate knowledge of polysubstance use (i.e., the use of two or more substances) by bringing together an interdisciplinary group of stakeholders, with an emphasis on opportunities for early career and underrepresented researchers.

TO SUBMIT AN ABSTRACT:

Abstract submissions closed on June 14th.

We will accept poster submissions only until August 1st. Posters from community organizations are especially encouraged.

Please use this form to submit an abstract. Abstracts should not exceed 350 words and fit within one of the four domains described below.

Abstracts that are applied, creative, and outside the confines of traditional "research" are encouraged, as well as abstracts detailing traditional research projects/findings and community-based programming.

Your research may not fit perfectly into one domain or may reflect multiple domains. However, we ask you to please select a primary domain to assist in the review process.

Prevalence and emerging trends, unintentional polysubstance use (epidemiology, overdose, toxicology/autopsy data, impacts of a contaminated drug supply): There are numerous patterns individuals may engage in, and presentations exploring the motivations, context, and trajectories of patterns are requested. Research on the contamination of the drug supply and intentionality of polysubstance use is requested.
Treatment, harm reduction, and policy (pharmacologic or behavioral, community driven harm reduction, and policy changes): Research, community, and clinical examples of unique treatment and/or harm reduction options and identification of barriers to care for individuals engaged in polysubstance use or those with multiple substance use disorders, is requested.
Social determinants (vulnerable populations, demographics, psychosocial drivers): Polysubstance use is pronounced among vulnerable subpopulations. An understanding of the association of polysubstance patterns and individual, interpersonal, community, and societal level factors are requested.
Methods for polysubstance use (challenges, innovative methodological techniques): There are methodological challenges in the measurement and analysis of polysubstance use data. Novel approaches, new instruments, and other creative applications are requested.
